Foreign Secretary Highlights 75% Trade Growth with Africa

Pakistan currently has 19 diplomatic missions

across Africa, while 14 African missions

operate from Islamabad

Islamabad: In a significant diplomatic event, Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch welcomed 14 African Envoys at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing relations with African nations under the Government’s Engage Africa Policy.

Pakistan currently operates 19 diplomatic missions across Africa, while 14 African missions are based in Islamabad. The meeting underscores Pakistan’s efforts to deepen its ties with the African continent.

Tree Plantation Ceremony Highlights Friendship

As part of the day’s events, the Ministry organized a special tree plantation ceremony themed “Pakistan-Africa Friendship.” This symbolic gesture followed a joint meeting between the Foreign Secretary and the African Envoys, where they discussed mutual priorities and key aspects of bilateral relations.

Foreign Secretary Baloch highlighted the expanding ties between Pakistan and Africa, commending the African Envoys in Islamabad for their contributions. She emphasized Pakistan’s eagerness to enhance cooperation in various sectors, particularly trade, investment, and political relations. Over the last four years, Pakistan increased its trade volume with Africa by 75%, with even greater potential for future growth.

Morocco’s Ambassador Commends the Initiative

His Excellency Mohammad Karmoune, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco and Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps, thanked the Foreign Secretary for the opportunity to engage in these discussions. He also praised the unique significance of the tree plantation ceremony as a symbol of Pak-Africa friendship.
