Foreign Diplomats Attend Grand Iftar Hosted by Mundia Group in Karachi

Karachi: Foreign diplomats, senior officials and members of the business community attended a grand iftar dinner hosted by businessman Abdul Basit Mundia of the M.I. Mundia Group at his residence in Clifton during the holy month of Ramadan.

The gathering brought together representatives from several countries, including diplomats from Germany, United Kingdom, Oman, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand and Türkiye.

Senior officials from the airline sector, including representatives of Turkish Airlines and Sri Lankan aviation representatives, also attended the event.

Discussion on Regional Developments and Sindh Politics

Participants exchanged views on regional developments and current affairs. Discussions at the gathering included the evolving geopolitical situation in the Middle East as well as political developments in Sindh, particularly the expected resignation of incumbent Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and the proposed appointment of Nehal Hashmi of the Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz as the new governor.

The event was attended by politicians from the Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and PML factions, along with senior government officials, police officers, industrialists, businessmen and honorary consuls.

Diplomats Praise Karachi’s Hospitality

Among the guests was Thomas Peter Harry Burge, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Deputy High Commission Karachi.

Speaking on the occasion, Burge said it was his first experience attending a Ramadan gathering in Karachi after recently arriving in Pakistan for his new assignment.

He praised the hospitality of the city, saying Karachi’s people were “very friendly and welcoming”. He also thanked the hosts for organising a warm and memorable iftar evening.

Hosts Welcome Guests with Traditional Hospitality

Host Abdul Basit Mundia, Chairman of M.I. Mundia Group, along with Director Junaid Mundia, welcomed guests and personally ensured arrangements for attendees throughout the evening.

At the conclusion of the event, souvenirs, gifts and flower bouquets were presented to diplomats and foreign guests as a gesture of appreciation.

Participants described the gathering as an opportunity to strengthen professional ties, promote cultural exchange and celebrate the spirit of Ramadan in a cordial and inclusive atmosphere.
