FIA Foils Attempt to Travel on Fake Driving License Abroad

Passenger offloaded at Karachi airport over forged documents and agent involvement

KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, has foiled an attempt to travel to Saudi Arabia using a suspected fake driving license and offloaded a passenger, officials said.

According to an FIA spokesperson, the passenger was travelling on a work visa along with protector clearance as a driver. However, during routine scrutiny at the immigration counter, officials found the driving license to be suspicious.

The document reportedly carried a Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number that did not match the passenger’s original identity details. A QR code scan further revealed information linked to an unidentified individual, raising serious doubts about the authenticity of the license.

During initial questioning, the passenger admitted that he had never applied for a driving license through any official licensing authority. He further revealed that the fake license was arranged by a Rawalpindi-based agent identified as Syed Amir Shah in exchange for money.

The passenger also stated that his Saudi work visa was arranged through another agent named Umair, while the protector clearance was obtained through M/s Kaleemullah International Overseas Employment Promoters.

Following the findings, FIA immigration authorities offloaded the passenger from the flight and initiated further legal proceedings. The case has been transferred to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Karachi for detailed investigation.

Officials said strict action will be taken against all individuals involved in the preparation and use of fraudulent travel documents.
