FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial and senior officials briefed traders on the scheme and discussed implementation procedures, business concerns and areas for government-trader cooperation.

The meeting also focused on ways to ensure a smooth transition when the new scheme comes into force under SRO 1109.

The business delegation presented several suggestions and raised concerns over the proposed tax arrangements. FBR officials assured the traders that the tax authority would provide all possible support during implementation.

Traders pledge support for new tax scheme

Abdul Rehman Khan, convenor of the Small Traders Committee at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), played a key role in the discussions.

He and other business representatives praised Minister of State for Finance, Revenue and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani for incorporating traders’ proposals into the scheme.

Khan said the business community would support the Easy Tax Scheme and launch an awareness campaign to help traders understand its provisions and implementation process.

The delegation also raised several concerns related to customs operations. In response, Chairman FBR instructed officials to take immediate action on the issues raised by traders. Officials resolved several matters during the meeting.

FBR proposes monthly consultations

Langrial stressed the importance of regular communication between tax authorities and the business community.

He proposed holding similar consultative meetings every month to identify and resolve business-related issues in a timely manner.

The chairman said continued engagement could improve coordination between taxpayers and government institutions while helping address operational challenges.

Chief Commissioner RTO-I Karachi Qazi Hafiz-ur-Rehman, Chief Commissioner RTO-II Karachi Zafar Rafiq, Umar Shafiq of the Directorate of Enforcement Customs Karachi and Secretary Revenue Budget FBR Shafqat Rasool Sindhu also attended the meeting.

Senior FBR officials and representatives of the business community took part in the discussions.

At the conclusion, business leaders welcomed what they described as a trader-friendly approach from Langrial, Bilal Azhar Kayani and the FBR leadership.

They also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the new scheme and expressed hope that continued consultation would create a more facilitative environment for businesses and taxpayers.
