A police constable allegedly involved in providing facilitation to drug trafficking suspect Anmol Pinky has had his major disciplinary punishment waived, with reports suggesting that his reinstatement in service is also being considered.
According to sources, the constable had been under investigation for his alleged links with drug networks and accusations of receiving financial benefits over a long period.
Intelligence-based reports reportedly led senior officers to take strict action against the constable, while two Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel were also taken into custody over alleged contacts with Anmol Pinky.
Sources further claimed that the constable later appeared before a senior police officer seeking leniency and was assigned a high-risk operational task: assisting in the arrest of Anmol Pinky.
In return, authorities allegedly promised to review and potentially revoke all disciplinary penalties against him.
The officer reportedly completed the assignment within a week, leading to the successful arrest of the suspect based on his input.
Following the operation, officials are now said to be considering full restoration of his service along with cancellation of prior punishments.
