Dr. Nasaka has been formally recommended for one of Pakistan’s highest civilian honours after Senator Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali urged President Asif Ali Zardari to recognise the veteran Ayurvedic physician’s decades of humanitarian and healthcare services.
According to official documents, the recommendation submitted by Senator Sher Ali was received by the President’s Secretariat on May 21, 2026, following a letter dated May 20, 2026. In the letter, the senator proposed that Dr. Nasir Saleem Nasaka be considered for a prestigious national honour, including the Hilal-e-Imtiaz or Nishan-e-Imtiaz.
The senator highlighted Dr. Nasaka’s lifelong commitment to serving humanity through Ayurvedic medicine, noting that he has spent more than 40 years treating thousands of patients across Pakistan, particularly those from underprivileged communities and individuals suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses, without charging consultation fees.

Senator Sher Ali described Dr. Nasaka as a symbol of compassion, selfless public service and patriotism. He said the physician’s unwavering dedication to healthcare reflects the highest standards of humanitarian service and deserves national recognition.
The recommendation also highlighted Dr. Nasaka’s contribution to promoting traditional and alternative medicine, alongside his efforts to provide medical care to people who could not afford conventional treatment.
The senator requested the President to consider the nomination strictly on merit and enclosed a copy of Dr. Nasaka’s personal representation for verification by the relevant authorities.
The recommendation has now become part of the official record at the President’s Secretariat and is expected to be processed under the established procedure for nominations for Pakistan’s national civil awards.
Dr. Nasir Saleem Nasaka is widely respected for his contribution to Ayurvedic medicine and humanitarian work. Over the course of his career, he has treated thousands of patients and earned recognition from civil society, community leaders and public figures for his lifelong commitment to alleviating human suffering.
Several members of civil society have also backed the recommendation, describing Dr. Nasaka as a national asset whose humanitarian contributions merit one of Pakistan’s highest civilian honours.
