CM Murad Launches Job Portal, Sindh Becomes Pakistan’s First Province to Digitize Recruitment

Asif Khan

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday launched the Sindh Job Portal (SJP) — a comprehensive, technology-driven platform aimed at ensuring transparency, efficiency, and merit-based recruitment across all provincial departments.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, the chief minister said the initiative reflected the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s slogan “Benazir Aaie Hai — Rozgar Laie Hai” (Benazir has come — she has brought employment).

Murad Shah said the Sindh government had expanded testing options to make recruitment more accessible and transparent. “If a candidate fails, they can retake the test multiple times, and the first attempt will be fully funded by the Sindh government,” he added.

Highlighting the progress made so far, Shah said 326,000 candidates had already passed the test, with examinations now being conducted monthly and results announced immediately.

“All required documents — including matriculation certificates, CNICs, and domicile — will be uploaded to the portal, forming a complete digital database of qualified candidates,” he said. “Once a candidate passes the test, they can apply for any available government job.”

He explained that each government department will post and update vacancies dynamically, allowing instant coordination with the Finance Department for funding approvals. “For instance, if the Education Department announces 100 new positions, the Finance Department will immediately assess budget availability,” he said.

The portal integrates recruitment functions — from job advertisement and application submission to interviews, offer letters, and verifications — reducing the recruitment timeline from 12 months to just one.

Key features include AI-based job matching, multilingual voice-enabled search (in Urdu, Sindhi, and English), and digital verification through Sindh Police and Health Department databases. Candidates receive updates via SMS, email, and in-portal notifications.

Developed jointly by the Sindh Information Technology Department and Sukkur IBA University, the SJP builds upon the Screening Test Initiative for Grades 5 to 15 and now covers all provincial job grades.

CM’s Special Assistant Ali Rashid highlighted the system’s cost- and time-saving benefits for candidates, while Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah termed it “a milestone for merit-based employment in Sindh.” Sukkur IBA Vice Chancellor Dr. Syed Mir Muhammad Shah praised the platform as “the best and most transparent digital recruitment system in Pakistan.”

The launch event, held at the CM House’s Banquet Hall, was attended by ministers, advisors, MPAs, MNAs, provincial secretaries, and members of the media.
