Sri Lanka-Pakistan Friendship: Sri Lanka Reaffirms Enduring Solidarity with Pakistan

KARACHI (PR) — Sri Lanka-Pakistan Friendship remains strong and enduring, with Sri Lankan Consul General in Karachi Sanjeeva Pattiwila reaffirming his country’s solidarity with Pakistan on its National Day.

Pattiwila extended warm greetings and best wishes to the Government and people of Pakistan, expressing hope for peace, prosperity, stability and continued progress.

The Consul General said Sri Lanka and Pakistan share a longstanding friendship based on mutual respect, trust, goodwill and strong people-to-people ties. He said the relationship had developed into a multifaceted partnership covering political and diplomatic cooperation, trade and investment, defence and security, education, culture, tourism and sports.

Pattiwila said Sri Lanka greatly values Pakistan as a trusted friend and partner in South Asia. He highlighted close defence cooperation, growing economic and trade relations, cultural exchanges and strong sporting ties as key areas that continue to bring the two nations closer.

He particularly highlighted the shared passion for cricket, saying the sport continues to strengthen people-to-people ties between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

The Consul General also pointed to significant opportunities to expand trade, investment, tourism and business-to-business cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.

He said the friendship between Sri Lanka and Pakistan had stood the test of time. True friendship, he added, is demonstrated not only during celebrations but also through solidarity, understanding and support during difficult moments.

“Sri Lanka therefore reaffirms that Pakistan can always count on Sri Lanka as a true friend and trusted partner,” he said.

As Pakistan celebrates its National Day, Pattiwila said Sri Lanka looks forward to further strengthening bilateral ties and working with Pakistan to promote peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Karachi also extended heartfelt wishes to the Government and people of Pakistan for a peaceful, prosperous and successful future.
