Hyderabad: Bangladesh and Pakistan have reaffirmed their commitment to increasing bilateral trade through enhanced business-to-business engagements and mutual cooperation.

Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, S.M. Mahbubul Alam, recently visited Hyderabad, where he held meetings with the Commissioner Hyderabad and key business leaders. During his visit, he engaged with office bearers of the Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries (HCSTSI), including the chamber’s president, senior vice president, vice presidents, secretary, and other prominent businesspersons.

Exploring Bilateral Trade Opportunities

The Deputy High Commissioner emphasized the immense potential for expanding and diversifying the trade basket between Bangladesh and Pakistan. He expressed optimism that bilateral trade would soon surpass the USD 1 billion mark.

He invited Pakistani business leaders to participate in the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF), scheduled for January 2025, and proposed the idea of organizing single-country exhibitions and trade fairs in both nations to further strengthen economic ties.

Investment Opportunities in Bangladesh

Highlighting Bangladesh’s business-friendly environment, the Deputy High Commissioner encouraged Pakistani entrepreneurs to explore investment opportunities in Bangladesh. He shared that Bangladesh is developing 100 special economic zones, offering lucrative prospects for foreign investors, including those from Pakistan. These zones aim to attract global investments and foster economic growth.

Strengthening Economic Ties

The discussions underscored the importance of collaborative efforts to boost trade, explore untapped markets, and foster mutual growth. Both sides expressed their commitment to building a robust trade relationship through regular dialogues and joint initiatives.
