Bangladesh Mission in Karachi Celebrates Bengali New Year, Highlights Cultural Diplomacy

Karachi: The Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Karachi celebrated Pohela Boisakh, the Bengali New Year 1432, with a vibrant cultural event on May 3, 2025, at the Mission’s premises. The event showcased the rich art, culture, traditions, and cuisine of Bangladesh, drawing a diverse audience of diplomats, government officials, business leaders, media professionals, cultural activists, and families.

Diplomatic representatives from Türkiye, Japan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, the United Kingdom, and other nations, along with parliamentarians, UN officials, and members of the academic and cultural community, attended the colorful celebration.

Deputy High Commissioner S. M. Mahbubul Alam emphasized that cultural cooperation plays a key role in strengthening bilateral ties. He reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with Pakistan across multiple sectors, including culture, trade, education, health care, research, and people-to-people exchanges.

The evening featured traditional Bengali music and cultural performances that reflected the vibrant rural life, warm hospitality, and festive spirit of Bangladesh. Attendees were especially impressed by the Mission’s efforts to present the nation’s cultural heritage and traditions through exhibitions and cuisine.

The celebration underscored the importance of fostering strong cultural ties between Bangladesh and Pakistan to deepen mutual understanding and expand collaborative opportunities in various fields.
