Rawalpindi: Bangladesh made history by securing a dominant 10-wicket victory against Pakistan in the first Test match held in Rawalpindi. The national team collapsed in their second innings, managing only 146 runs, leaving Bangladesh a meager target of 30 runs to win, which they achieved without losing a wicket.

Pakistan’s Struggles in the Second Innings

In the second innings, Muhammad Rizwan stood out for Pakistan, scoring 51 runs. Abdullah Shafiq contributed 37 runs, while Babar Azam and Shan Masood added 22 and 14 runs, respectively. The rest of the batting lineup faltered, with Naseem Shah scoring 3 runs, Shaheen Afridi 2, and Saeem Ayub 1 run. Saud Shakeel and Agha Salman were dismissed for ducks.

Bangladesh’s Mehdi Hasan Miraz led the bowling attack, taking 4 wickets. Shakib Al Hasan dismissed 3 Pakistani batsmen, while Hasan Mehmood, Naheed Rana, and Shariful Islam claimed one wicket each.

Bangladesh’s First-Innings Domination

Pakistan’s first innings ended with 448 runs on the board, thanks to Muhammad Rizwan’s brilliant 171 and Saud Shakeel’s 141. Despite the strong start, Bangladesh responded with a formidable 565 runs in their first innings, gaining a significant lead of 117 runs.

The Final Day Collapse

On the final day of the Test, Pakistan resumed their second innings at 23/1. Captain Shan Masood fell early, adding only 5 runs before being dismissed. Pakistan’s batting lineup crumbled, with Babar Azam scoring 22, Abdullah Shafiq 37, and Muhammad Rizwan 51. The remaining batsmen failed to put up a fight, leaving Bangladesh with a straightforward target.

Bangladesh’s openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam easily chased down the 30-run target, sealing the victory without losing a wicket.

A Test of Highs and Lows

This Test match saw significant ups and downs. Pakistan declared their first innings at 448/6, thanks to the solid performances of Rizwan and Shakeel. However, Bangladesh’s strong response with the bat and their effective bowling in Pakistan’s second innings led to a historic victory.
