Islamabad: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir on Thursday categorically denied receiving any letter from anyone, adding that even if such a letter were received, he would forward it to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Speaking informally to journalists during a luncheon hosted for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Prime Minister’s House, General Munir stated, “I have not received any letter from anyone, and even if I do, I will not read it. I will send it to the Prime Minister.”

Pakistan’s Progress and Stability

The army chief emphasized that Pakistan is on a path of progress and reaffirmed his commitment to the country’s development and stability.

PTI’s Claim of Third Letter

His statement comes a day after PTI lawyer Faisal Chaudhry claimed outside Adiala Jail that former Prime Minister Imran Khan had sent a third letter to the army chief. The letter allegedly raised concerns about electoral fraud, which Chaudhry claimed had benefited a minority over the majority.

According to Chaudhry, Imran Khan has shared the contents of the letter with PTI leadership. The letter reportedly covers six main points, including the need for deep structural reforms and concerns over government policies allegedly damaging democracy.

PTI’s Political Strategy

Chaudhry further disclosed that Imran Khan and other PTI leaders had appeared in the GHQ case. He announced that PTI has decided to appoint Aamir Dogar as a member of the opposition’s negotiation committee, with additional members set to be included in the political committee. A formal notification regarding these appointments is expected to be issued today.

Imran Khan’s Previous Letters to COAS

Earlier, Imran Khan had written a second open letter to General Asim Munir, following up on a previous communication aimed at addressing the growing divide between the military and the public. In a statement shared on his official Twitter account, Khan expressed disappointment, saying, “I wrote the first open letter to you with the intention of improving the country’s situation, but the response was given with extreme irresponsibility and lack of seriousness.”

The ongoing exchange of letters between Imran Khan and the army chief has further intensified political tensions in the country.
