Karachi: Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine (AIDM) held its White Coat Ceremony 2026, marking the formal induction of newly admitted students into the dental profession.
The ceremony underscored the institute’s commitment to academic excellence, professionalism and high standards in dental education.
Spiritual Opening and Welcome Address
The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, setting a solemn tone for the occasion.
Vice Principal and Associate Dean of Basic Sciences, Prof. Dr Sheema Farhan, delivered the welcome address, outlining the institute’s academic vision and greeting students and their families.
Emphasis on Professional Values
Principal Prof. Dr Hasnain Sakrani addressed the gathering, sharing reflections from his professional journey. He encouraged students to uphold integrity, dedication, compassion and perseverance as essential pillars of a successful dental career.
Symbolic Induction into Healthcare Profession
The highlight of the event was the presentation of white coats — a symbolic gesture representing students’ formal entry into the healthcare community.
White coats were conferred by Prof. Dr Mohammad Altamash, President and recipient of Sitara-e-Imtiaz; Institute Dean Prof. Dr Ambreen Afzal, Vice President of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan; Prof. Dr Hasnain Sakrani; and Prof. Dr Sheema Farhan.
Professional Oath
The ceremony concluded with Prof. Dr Ambreen Afzal administering the professional oath, formally initiating students into their journey as ethical and compassionate dental professionals committed to serving society.
Faculty members, parents and guests attended the event, celebrating the beginning of what organisers described as a transformative academic and professional journey for the new cohort.
