PML-N President Nawaz Sharif chaired the meeting. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and newly elected PML-N members of the AJK Legislative Assembly also attended.
The selection of the next AJK prime minister remained the main issue. Party sources said PML-N AJK President Shah Ghulam Qadir currently has the strongest chance of securing the position.
However, former prime minister Raja Farooq Haider also remains in contention. Tariq Farooq and retired Colonel Waqar are also under consideration.
Meanwhile, the PML-N’s AJK parliamentary party gave Nawaz Sharif authority to choose the next prime minister. The party leadership will therefore make the final decision.

The meeting also reviewed candidates for reserved seats in the AJK Assembly. PML-N AJK has already submitted its proposed names to Nawaz Sharif.
For women’s reserved seats, the party is considering Maria Iqbal Tarana, Nasira Khan, Maryam Kashmiri, Nisara Abbasi and Seharish Qamar.
Meanwhile, Raja Shadab Sikandar is under consideration for the technocrat seat. Pir Mazhar Saeed has been proposed for the ulema and mashaikh seat.
Raja Mohammad Javed is likely to receive the overseas seat nomination. The party leadership will make the final decision after reviewing all candidates.
The meeting forms part of the PML-N’s broader efforts to establish the new AJK government. Senior leaders are expected to finalise the key appointments and reserved-seat nominations soon.
