AirAsia Announce Direct Flight between Kuala Lumpur and Karachi

Karachi, The Consulate General of Malaysia in Karachi held a Trade Promotion Presentation in conjunction with AirAsia’s upcoming direct flight service between Kuala Lumpur and Karachi, scheduled to commence operations in May 2025.

The event brought together key representatives from the Pakistan-Malaysia Business Council, the Pakistan-Malaysia Friendship Association, and tour and travel agencies, as well as the Malaysian community in Karachi.

In his welcoming remarks, His Excellency the Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi highlighted the significance of the new route in strengthening the enduring ties between Malaysia and Pakistan. “This new air link is more than a transportation corridor; it is a gateway of exchange for trade, for tourism, for education and, most importantly, for people-to-people connectivity,” he stated.

AirAsia’s entry into the Pakistan market marks a significant development in aviation connectivity, reflecting Malaysia’s commitment to expanding commercial and cultural engagement with Pakistan. The direct Kuala Lumpur–Karachi service is expected to facilitate more accessible travel for business communities, tourists, students and families, while opening new avenues for bilateral economic and tourism cooperation.

The Consul General underscored the importance of the initiative, saying, “Let us work together to transform this new flight route into a pathway of enduring friendship, growth and prosperity for both our nations.”

The evening main feature was a presentation by the marketing officer of MATRADE Karachi, who outlined Malaysia’s trade strengths and potential areas for enhanced cooperation, particularly in sectors such as halal products, palm oil, processed foods, electronics and services. Attendees were encouraged to explore investment opportunities and deepen commercial ties with Malaysian counterparts.

The event was part of the Consulate’s ongoing efforts to promote economic diplomacy and people-to-people engagement in support of Malaysia-Pakistan relations. It follows other recent initiatives, including educational exhibitions and exchange programmes as well as financial services.

AirAsia’s direct flights are expected to begin in May 2025, with 4 flights weekly frequencies, providing greater flexibility and affordability for travellers between the two countries.
