The veteran writer said the producers neither consulted him nor sought his consent before creating the animated version. He described the decision as disappointing because the reboot used a concept he originally created.
Hafeez Tahir said he learned about the project after Pakistan Television (PTV) aired teaser clips featuring the drama’s famous characters.
He also claimed that the production later used artificial intelligence (AI) during the project. However, he said no one involved in the reboot contacted him at any stage.
The writer expressed dissatisfaction with the overall quality of the animated adaptation. Consequently, he said he is considering legal action against those responsible.
The controversy quickly gained attention on social media. Many users supported Hafeez Tahir and argued that creators should receive proper recognition and permission before their work is reused.
Meanwhile, actor Umair Rana publicly urged the veteran writer to pursue legal action. He also encouraged Hafeez Tahir to raise the matter before the Actors Collective Trust.
Ainak Wala Jin remains one of Pakistan’s most celebrated children’s television dramas. The original series entertained generations of viewers and became a cultural landmark through its memorable characters and storytelling.
