Aghosh Home Marks Heartwarming Mother’s Day Celebration with Shelterless Mothers and Differently-Abled Orphan Girls in Karachi

KARACHI, May 2026: In an emotionally powerful and heartfelt ceremony, Aghosh Home Trust celebrated Mother’s Day with shelterless elderly mothers and differently-abled orphan girls residing at its facility, highlighting 25 years of dedicated humanitarian service under the leadership of President Ms. Shugafta Saba.

The event brought together distinguished personalities from civil society, diplomacy, academia, and philanthropy, who paid rich tribute to the resilience, sacrifices, and dignity of the mothers living at Aghosh Home. The gathering reflected the spirit of compassion, humanity, and social responsibility, emphasizing the urgent need to support vulnerable segments of society.

The ceremony began with the soulful recitation of the Holy Quran by Ms. Kainat, a visually impaired resident of Aghosh Home, whose emotional recitation deeply moved the audience and set a spiritual tone for the event. This was followed by a heartfelt Naat-e-Maqbool presented by another resident mother, further enhancing the emotional atmosphere.

One of the most touching moments came when several resident mothers shared their life stories, speaking about hardship, loneliness, and abandonment before finding dignity, care, and a family-like environment at Aghosh Home. Their emotional testimonies left many guests in tears and highlighted the growing need for stronger social welfare systems for abandoned and elderly women.

The event was attended by prominent figures including Barrister Shahida Jamil, Seema Mughal, Ambassador (R) Hasan Habib, Abdul Rauf Tabani, Dr. Nasaka, Zaigham Mahmood Rizvi, Brigadier (R) Karrar Hussain, Saim Junaid Malik, Ali Zeb, Ateeq Ur Rehman, Haji Masood Parekh, Mehvish Parekh, Jimmy Engineer, and Noman Ahmed, along with other dignitaries, social workers, and members of civil society.

Speaking on the occasion, guests praised the services of Aghosh Home Trust and its leadership, describing it as a remarkable humanitarian institution providing dignity and care to abandoned mothers and differently-abled orphan girls. They emphasized the importance of collective social responsibility and called for greater support from philanthropists, corporate sector, and civil society.

Barrister Shahida Jamil described Aghosh Home as a “symbol of hope and humanity,” while Seema Mughal stressed the need for stronger collaboration between educational institutions and social organizations. Ambassador (R) Hasan Habib highlighted that Mother’s Day should serve as a reminder of society’s responsibility toward neglected mothers requiring emotional and physical care.

Zaigham Mahmood Rizvi and economist Ateeq Ur Rehman also urged increased public and institutional support to ensure the long-term sustainability of welfare initiatives like Aghosh Home.

The ceremony concluded with a Mother’s Day cake-cutting event, where guests spent time with residents, offering encouragement, compassion, and solidarity. The atmosphere remained deeply emotional yet inspiring, filled with prayers, smiles, and heartfelt interactions.

Celebrating 25 years of humanitarian service, Aghosh Home Trust continues to stand as a beacon of hope, proving that compassion and care can restore dignity and transform the lives of society’s most vulnerable individuals.
