Karachi: The Makhani Welfare Foundation, a U.S.-Pakistan diaspora organization, hosted a Certificate Distribution Ceremony at the Pak-American Cultural Center to celebrate the achievements of participants in its community welfare programs. The event highlighted the foundation’s commitment to empowering women, particularly Afghan refugee girls, through vocational training and skill development.
Empowering Through Skills
The ceremony recognized 75 individuals who completed training in various fields, including stitching, mehndi artistry, embroidery, advanced design, IT, Montessori teaching, and beautician skills. These programs aim to equip participants with practical skills to improve their lives and contribute positively to their communities.
Amir Ali Makhani, President of the Makhani Welfare Foundation, and Naveed Chagani, General Secretary, highlighted the transformative impact of the initiatives. “These certificates are more than just achievements; they represent empowerment, resilience, and opportunities for underserved communities,” they stated.
Notable Attendees Applaud the Initiative
Prominent figures attending the event included Reva Gupta, Spokesperson for the U.S. Consulate General in Karachi; Fazil Jamili, President of the Karachi Press Club; Qazi Muhammad Yasir, Senior Journalist; Babar Abbasi, Builder & Developer; and Sheikh Imtiaz Hussain, President of the American-Pakistan Business Development Association. They commended the foundation’s dedication to uplifting vulnerable populations and fostering self-reliance among marginalized groups.
Focus on Afghan Refugees
The foundation has made significant strides in addressing the needs of Afghan refugee girls, providing them with education and vocational training. Reva Gupta emphasized, “The inclusion of Afghan refugee girls in these programs highlights the importance of fostering hope and pathways to self-reliance for marginalized communities.”

Building on its success, the Makhani Welfare Foundation plans to expand its programs in 2025, addressing emerging community needs with innovative and sustainable solutions.
