ABHI Secures Shariah Approval for Earned Wage Access Service in Saudi Arabia

ABHI has secured Shariah approval for its Earned Wage Access (EWA) product from the Shariah Committee of Saudi Arabia-based Badiha Company, marking a significant step in its expansion across the Kingdom.

The approval confirms that ABHI’s EWA solution aligns with Shariah principles. It also supports the company’s focus on developing accessible financial products that promote responsible financial practices.

How ABHI’s EWA service works

ABHI’s Earned Wage Access service allows employees to access part of their salary before their regular payday.

The service gives workers greater flexibility when managing their financial needs. Employees can access wages they have already earned instead of waiting for the traditional payroll cycle.

ABHI said the model aims to give employees greater control over their income while supporting financial wellbeing.

Growing demand for flexible workplace benefits

The Shariah approval comes as employers in Saudi Arabia increasingly focus on financial wellbeing as part of the employee experience.

Flexible financial services can help businesses offer modern workplace benefits while complementing traditional payroll systems.

ABHI said its EWA service is designed around the changing needs of employees and businesses in the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 programme has also encouraged innovation across financial services and the wider economy.

Earned Wage Access can complement existing payroll systems by allowing employees to manage their earned income with greater flexibility.

ABHI expands across the region

Founded in 2021, ABHI has expanded its operations across Pakistan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman.

The company says it now serves more than 1 million users and works with over 7,000 businesses across the region.

Its financial services portfolio includes Earned Wage Access, payroll processing, payroll financing and SME financing.

The latest Shariah approval strengthens ABHI’s position in Saudi Arabia as the company continues to develop technology-driven financial services for individuals and businesses.
