The 96th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia provides an opportunity to reflect on the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, one of the important relationships connecting South Asia with the Gulf region.
Over several decades, ties between the two countries have expanded beyond diplomatic, trade and cultural relations to include military training, defence cooperation, strategic coordination and security engagement.
The longstanding defence relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia has also entered a new phase, further deepening cooperation between the two countries.
A key development has been the signing of the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement and the “Makkah Joint Defence Agreement,” which have added further weight to the defence dimension of bilateral relations.
