Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday strongly condemned what he described as a heinous attempted drone attack targeting the Holy Site of Makkah Al-Mukarramah.
The prime minister said the people of Pakistan were deeply saddened and disturbed by the incident, expressing grief over what he called an unacceptable act.
In a statement posted on X, Shehbaz Sharif praised the Royal Saudi Armed Forces for their vigilance, courage and professionalism, commending their swift response to the attempted attack.
The prime minister also urged all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and avoid further escalation, warning that the region had already endured significant suffering because of prolonged conflicts.
“Dialogue and diplomacy remain the only sustainable path towards peace,” he said.

Pakistan also reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while stressing the importance of protecting the security and sanctity of the Haramain Sharifain.
Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan would remain “shoulder to shoulder” with Saudi Arabia in defending its sovereignty and the holy sites, describing their protection as a responsibility deeply valued by the Pakistani people.
The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions and growing international calls for restraint to prevent further escalation.
