The Central Executive Committee on Corporate Relations and Communication of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) held a meeting at Federation House, Karachi, to discuss strategies for boosting exports, research and development, and Pakistan’s industrial and commercial sectors.
The meeting was chaired by Convener Syed Turab Shah, while Mian Zahid Hussain, Leader of the Business Community and Chairman of the FPCCI Advisory Board, attended as the Chief Guest.
The session began with introductions, with eight of the committee’s 16 members participating. Those present included Mahmood Ahmad Khan, Managing Director of Star Marketing; Ali Pesnani, Vice Chairman Fisheries & Aquaculture Sector, SBC Group; Murad Suleman; Farah Javed, President of the Beauticians Association; Javed Mirza; Shahbaz Islam, Senior Group General Manager at SSGC; Junaid Ahmad Khan of NBP; Rizwan Hafeez of NCR; and Convener Syed Turab Shah.
Addressing the meeting, Mian Zahid Hussain highlighted FPCCI’s continued focus on research and development for export-oriented industries. He said efforts were also being made to promote “Made in Pakistan” products in international markets.
He further highlighted FPCCI’s work to promote tourism, supported by research initiatives aimed at positioning Pakistan as a competitive destination for international visitors.

The committee also discussed a proposal to establish an association for beauticians and strengthen the beauty care products sector as part of FPCCI’s wider industrial development agenda.
Another major proposal was the introduction of a Rs0.50 surcharge on bank transactions under the supervision of the Prime Minister and Finance Minister. The proposed mechanism would generate a dedicated fund for national research and development initiatives.
During a special session, Ali Pesnani engaged with committee members on the fisheries and aquaculture sector. Discussions focused on expanding Pakistan’s seafood exports and developing aquaculture in Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab.
The FPCCI R&D team was tasked with exploring new international opportunities for Pakistani fisheries products, particularly in the European Union, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, the United States and other global markets.
The meeting concluded with a decision to launch a comprehensive media campaign highlighting FPCCI’s initiatives and achievements across social, print and electronic media platforms.
