According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the revised prices took effect from midnight following recommendations by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
New Petrol and Diesel Rates
The government reduced the price of petrol by Rs3.19 per litre, bringing the new rate down to Rs329.82 per litre.
Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel fell by Rs1.50 per litre, lowering the new rate to Rs382.36 per litre.
The revised prices will remain in force until the next scheduled review.
Daily Pricing Mechanism Continues
The latest revision comes a day after the government increased petrol prices by Rs4.45 per litre while reducing diesel prices by Rs2 per litre.
However, the Petroleum Division said OGRA determines prices under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.
Moreover, OGRA now updates petroleum product prices daily on its website. The move aims to improve transparency and pass changes in international oil prices on to consumers without delay.
International Prices Drive Revisions
Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the daily pricing mechanism uses a seven-day average of international market prices.
He added that the system aligns Pakistan’s fuel pricing with international standards and reflects global market movements more quickly.
