Top teams receive automatic qualification
The latest ICC rankings gave Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka automatic entry into the men’s knockout stage.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan, Japan and Nepal will compete in Group A. Hong Kong, Malaysia and Oman will play in Group B.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stage. They will then join the four seeded teams in the race for the medals.
Men’s tournament begins in September
The men’s T20 competition will run in Nagoya, Japan, from September 24 to October 1.
Consequently, the participating teams will battle for Asian Games honours and valuable international recognition.
Women’s quarter-final fixtures confirmed
The women’s tournament will start on September 17.
The quarter-final matches are:
India vs Japan
Bangladesh vs China
Sri Lanka vs Malaysia
Pakistan vs Thailand
Finally, the women’s cricket competition will conclude on September 22.
