EDINBURGH: Queen Camilla visited the Royal Scottish Academy during the Royal Family’s Holyrood Week engagements, joining celebrations to mark the institution’s 200th anniversary and Scotland’s artistic heritage.
The Queen toured the academy’s exhibition, Chaos and Control: Printmaking in Scotland Now, where she met several artists whose work is featured in the showcase.
The British royal family’s official Instagram account shared a video of the visit, describing it as a celebration of “200 years of Scottish creativity.”
According to the post, the exhibition brings together works by 47 established, emerging and internationally recognised artists. It highlights the continuing importance of printmaking in Scotland’s contemporary art scene.
The Royal Scottish Academy also welcomed the Queen’s visit, saying it was honoured to receive Her Majesty during its bicentenary celebrations. The academy said the milestone recognises 200 years of supporting artists, architects and creative practice across Scotland.
During the visit, RSA President Gareth Fisher and Director Colin Greenslade guided Queen Camilla through the exhibition and introduced her to participating artists.
The Queen concluded the visit by cutting a special bicentenary cake, marking two centuries of the Royal Scottish Academy’s contribution to Scotland’s cultural and artistic landscape.
