Mourners across the country commemorate the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala under extensive security arrangements
Youm-e-Ashura is being observed across Pakistan today (Friday), including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, with deep religious devotion to commemorate the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), his family members and companions in the Battle of Karbala.
Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), along with 72 members of his family and companions, embraced martyrdom in Karbala while standing for justice, truth, righteousness and the principles of Islam. Muslims across the country are marking the occasion through mourning gatherings and Zuljanah processions.
Authorities have taken extensive security measures nationwide to ensure peaceful observance of Ashura. Police and Rangers personnel have been deployed along procession routes, while surveillance is being carried out through CCTV cameras installed at key locations. Officials have also established water and milk distribution camps for mourners.
In Karachi, the main procession began at Nishtar Park and is scheduled to conclude at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar after passing through its traditional route.
In Lahore, thousands of mourners joined the principal Zuljanah procession, which started from Nisar Haveli and will culminate at Imambargah Gamay Shah. More than 20,000 police personnel have been deployed to secure the procession route.
In Peshawar, nine large and small processions are being held, with the main procession scheduled to depart from Imambargah Syed Alam Shah. Authorities have sealed major roads and strengthened security across the city.
In Quetta, the main procession began from Alamdar Road. Zuljanah processions are also being held in Hyderabad, Sanghar, Dera Ismail Khan, Jhang and Jam Nawaz Ali.
