Sindh leadership attends 80th Italy Republic Day event showcasing cultural diplomacy, luxury heritage, and strengthened bilateral cooperation.
KARACHI: The Consulate of Italy in Karachi hosted a grand reception at a local hotel to mark the 80th anniversary of the Republic of Italy, celebrating “La Festa della Repubblica Italiana” and highlighting longstanding diplomatic and cultural ties between Italy and Pakistan.
The event was hosted by Italian Consul Fabrizio Bielli and attended by prominent political and administrative figures, including Murad Ali Shah, Nehal Hashmi, and Azra Pechuho. Senior bureaucrats, diplomats, military officials, and members of civil society also participated in the ceremony.
In his welcome address, Consul Bielli expressed gratitude to the guests and emphasized the growing strength of Italy-Pakistan relations, particularly in trade, commerce, and economic cooperation. He said both countries continue to expand collaboration in multiple sectors, reflecting shared values of democracy and development.
The evening featured a curated exhibition showcasing Italian craftsmanship and luxury brands, highlighting Italy’s global reputation in design, fashion, and innovation.
The display included high-end automotive models such as Ferrari and Fiat Abarth, along with Piaggio Vespa scooters representing Italy’s design heritage. Interior design exhibits featured luxury furniture collections from Natuzzi Italia, while premium textiles from Ermenegildo Zegna and Loro Piana were also showcased.
Luxury fragrances from Versace and Dolce & Gabbana were presented as part of the haute perfumery segment, while Italian culinary culture was highlighted through Illy espresso and artisanal gelato offerings.
The reception concluded with a lucky draw ceremony, where winners received luxury gift hampers sponsored by leading Italian brands. The Consul General invited Sindh’s top leadership to participate in announcing the winners, marking a symbolic gesture of goodwill and cultural exchange.
Participants described the event as a reflection of strong bilateral relations and growing people-to-people connections between Italy and Pakistan.
