Green Pakistan Initiative Boosts Tourism Growth and Investment Opportunities

ISLAMABAD – The Green Pakistan Initiative continues to advance efforts aimed at transforming Pakistan’s natural beauty into a key driver of economic growth, tourism development, and investment opportunities.

Pakistan’s mountains, coastlines, valleys, and scenic landscapes offer significant potential for tourism and related economic activities. Authorities have introduced several measures over the past three years to strengthen the sector and attract domestic and international investors.

Tourism Development Accelerates

Officials reported that agreements for 78 tourism sites were finalized within just 18 months under the initiative.

Out of 17 planned hotel and recreational projects, 15 have already opened to visitors. These projects aim to improve tourist experiences while creating new economic opportunities for local communities.

‘Salam Pakistan’ Campaign Gains Global Attention

The government has promoted Pakistan’s tourism potential internationally through the “Salam Pakistan” campaign.

The initiative highlights the country’s cultural heritage, natural attractions, and adventure tourism opportunities to global audiences.

In addition, authorities have organized the Sustainable Tourism Forum regularly since 2024. The forum serves as a platform to encourage investment and explore new opportunities in the tourism sector.

Easier Visa Access for International Tourists

Pakistan has also introduced measures to simplify visa procedures for travelers from 126 countries.

Officials believe these reforms have contributed to increased international visitor arrivals and improved Pakistan’s image as a tourist destination.

Foreign Tourist Arrivals Increase

According to official figures, more than one million foreign tourists visited Pakistan in 2025.

The number represents an increase of approximately 820 percent compared to previous years, reflecting growing international interest in the country’s tourism sector.

Furthermore, in 2025, American broadcaster CNN included Gilgit-Baltistan among the world’s top 25 travel destinations, bringing additional global recognition to Pakistan’s tourism potential.

Public-Private Partnership Strengthens Infrastructure

Under Green Tourism Pakistan, authorities continue to improve tourism facilities and infrastructure through collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders.

Officials say these efforts will support sustainable tourism growth, attract further investment, and contribute to long-term economic development across the country.
