
The Karachi Table Tennis Championship has officially begun, inaugurated by the Honorary Consul General of Ivory Coast, Fazal Karim Dadabhoy.
The championship, which carries a prize pool of PKR 300,000, will continue until April 24. A total of 160 Players are participating in this seven-day event, competing across 10 different categories.
A special highlight of the opening ceremony was the presentation of a Lifetime Achievement Award to legendary women’s table tennis player Nazo Shakoor, along with a cash prize of PKR 100,000.

KARACHI: The colorful opening ceremony was organized by Ali Shan Table Tennis Club in collaboration with the Karachi Table Tennis Association at the Sindh Sports Board Complex, Nazimabad. Fazal Karim Dadabhoy formally inaugurated the event by cutting the ribbon. A cake was also cut to mark World Table Tennis Day, and he even showcased his table tennis skills during the ceremony.
The championship includes competitions in men’s and women’s singles and doubles, under-19 boys’ and girls’ singles, men’s and women’s team events, veterans’ singles, and mixed doubles.

On the opening day, matches for Under-19 boys’ and girls’ singles were held. In the boys’ category, Arham Bin Farukh, Ayan Ali, Muhammad Abbas, Rayyan Abbas, Musa Malik, Musa Afridi, Muhammad Saim, and Hadi Ali advanced to the quarterfinals. In the girls’ category, Sarah Danish, Anamta Kiran, Maheen Asif, Aiman Younis, Abrish Fatima, Hadiqa Nasir, Anabia Siddiqui, and Faiza Rehan secured their places in the quarterfinals.

The event was attended by several notable figures, including Karachi Table Tennis Association President Fareed Alam, Pakistan Table Tennis Federation Vice President Mohsin Raza, legendary players Nazo Shakoor, Rubina Shakoor, and Seema Shakoor, former Test cricketer Shoaib Mohammad, Sindh Olympic Association Secretary Ahmed Ali Rajput, Sindh Sports Board Complex in-charge Hajra Nawab, CEO Voxtron Solutions Ahmed Shamsi, and several other officials and sports personalities.
