Karachi’s First Diplomatic Bazaar, Showcasing Culture and Global Friendship

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday inaugurated the first-ever Diplomatic Bazaar at the State Guest House in Karachi, calling it a “celebration of culture, creativity, cooperation, and true diplomacy.”

Organised by the Foreign Affairs Liaison Office (FALO), the event aimed to foster global friendship and cross-cultural understanding. The Chief Minister commended FALO Karachi Director General Irfan Soomro for his service, including the safe repatriation of Pakistani students from Bishkek and assistance to pilgrims after the Iran bus accident.

Shah highlighted Sindh’s deep diplomatic roots, paying tribute to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, and Pakistan’s current Foreign Secretary Ms. Amina Baloch. Touring the bazaar, he lauded the colourful display of Pakistan’s heritage — from Sindhi biryani and textiles to local mangoes and youth-led creative projects — calling it a reflection of the nation’s hardworking and diverse spirit.

“Karachi is Pakistan’s diplomatic capital by the sea, home to the largest number of consulates outside Islamabad,” Shah noted, expressing hope that the Diplomatic Bazaar would become an annual tradition promoting peace, cultural exchange, and inclusion, particularly among women and youth.

Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon hailed the initiative as “diplomacy through friendship and culture,” emphasising Karachi’s long-standing reputation for openness and trade.

DG Irfan Soomro welcomed guests and praised youth and female participation, describing them as the “future of internationalism.” He said Pakistan’s renewed diplomatic, economic, and cultural confidence was reflected in the event’s success.

The bazaar featured food stalls and exhibits representing various countries. The Chief Minister and guests sampled international cuisines and marked the occasion by cutting a celebratory cake.

The event was attended by provincial ministers, diplomats, and business leaders, underlining Karachi’s role as a hub of hospitality, unity, and global engagement.
