Karachi: The Citizens Foundation (TCF), a leading non-profit organization working to provide quality education in Pakistan, has officially launched its Baghbaan Summer Internship Programme (BSIP) 2025 with vibrant opening ceremonies held across Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad this past weekend.

Massive Turnout Reflects Youth Commitment to Education
The annual programme received an overwhelming response, with more than 2,000 young volunteers registering nationwide. The initiative is designed to empower youth as ambassadors for change, engaging them in awareness campaigns, fundraising drives, and digital advocacy to support education for underprivileged children.

Karachi Leads with Highest Participation
Karachi saw the largest response, with 1,400+ registrations and 700 volunteers attending the opening event. Lahore followed with 430 participants, while Islamabad welcomed 130 enthusiastic youth.

Emotional Testimony Underscores Programme’s Impact
A deeply moving moment unfolded in Karachi when a TCF alumna, now a student at Bahria University, shared her story as the first in her family—male or female—to receive an education. Her emotional speech drew applause and highlighted TCF’s mission to transform lives through education.

Youth Volunteers Inspired by Real Stories
“The most impactful moment for me was when a Pashtun girl shared her story,” shared a volunteer. “She cried while speaking, and it touched everyone. I silently prayed for her success.”

Programme Goals and Leadership Vision
Speaking at the event, Isfandyar Inayat, Vice President Development at TCF, outlined the programme’s goals:

“The Baghbaan Summer Internship Programme aims to raise awareness about the importance of education, mobilise crucial fundraising efforts, and nurture servant leaders who will drive positive change in their communities.”

Six Weeks of Purpose-Driven Activities Ahead
The internship will run for six weeks nationwide. Volunteers will lead awareness drives, organise fundraising campaigns, and participate in digital outreach, all to support TCF’s mission of educating Pakistan’s most underserved communities.

KARACHI: The Akhuwat Foundation on Tuesday held its annual fundraising dinner at the Governor House Sindh, bringing together prominent figures from across society to support the organisation’s interest-free microfinance and social welfare initiatives. The event aimed to secure new pledges for the coming year and mobilise additional resources to expand Akhuwat’s programmes, which provide interest-free loans to underprivileged individuals to help them achieve financial independence. Addressing the gathering, Akhuwat Founder and Chief Executive Officer Dr Muhammad Amjad Saqib reflected on the organisation’s 25-year journey, highlighting its role in empowering thousands of families through dignified, self-sustaining livelihood opportunities. Danish Aman, Head of the Council of Patrons, underscored Akhuwat’s growing social impact and called on philanthropists and stakeholders to actively support its mission of poverty alleviation and social inclusion. Governor Sindh’s Adviser Tariq Mustafa also lauded the foundation’s efforts, describing its model of interest-free lending as a vital tool in enabling individuals to stand on their own feet and rebuild their lives with dignity. Special prayers were offered during the event for the victims of the recent Gul Plaza tragedy, while proposals were also discussed to support and empower individuals affected by such incidents. The dinner was attended by actors, industrialists, senior bureaucrats, journalists and other notable personalities, and concluded with a formal dinner hosted at the Governor House.
