Karachi: The Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi marked the 79th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence with a flag-raising ceremony. Led by Mr. Teguh Wiweko, Acting Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi, the event celebrated Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage under the theme “Building a New Nusantara, Advanced Indonesia.” Indonesian citizens, students, and the general public participated solemnly in the ceremony.
The event was a vibrant display of cultural pride, showcasing Indonesia’s diverse traditions. Attendees were treated to a culinary journey through various food stalls, offering traditional Indonesian dishes. From savory treats to sweet delights, the celebration brought the authentic flavors of Indonesia to Karachi.
The festivities continued with a series of engaging games, including sack races, tug-of-war, and karaoke competitions. These activities were designed to foster excitement, joy, and a sense of community among the Indonesian diaspora in Sindh Province. The event also aimed to strengthen the bond between the Indonesian and Pakistan communities, particularly among mixed-marriage families in Karachi.
Mr. Teguh Wiweko expressed his deep pride in commemorating Indonesia’s hard-fought independence. He highlighted the shared Independence Day of both Indonesia and Pakistan in August, hoping for continued friendship and mutual progress between the two nations.
