Karachi: Visa Inc. (NYSE: V) has announced the appointment of Tareq Muhmood as Regional President for Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (CEMEA). In his new role, Muhmood will oversee Visa’s operations across 86 fast-growing markets, serving over 1,800 clients from 23 regional offices.
Muhmood brings over 30 years of experience in banking and payments, having held leadership positions at Ahli United Bank, ANZ, and HSBC. He joined Visa in 2019 as Group Country Manager for Southeast Asia and most recently led Visa’s Value-Added Services for the Europe region, based in London.
Effective immediately, Muhmood will be based in Dubai and report directly to Oliver Jenkyn, Group President of Global Markets at Visa.
Muhmood succeeds Andrew Torre, who has been appointed President of Visa’s Value-Added Services (VAS) division, now a $9 billion global business with annualized growth of 20% since 2021.
“Tareq’s global perspective and extensive leadership in high-growth, tech-driven markets make him the ideal leader for Visa’s fastest growing region,” said Oliver Jenkyn. “He has partnered with some of Visa’s largest clients across diverse and complex economies, making him a tremendous asset to our growth strategy.”
Expressing his excitement, Tareq Muhmood said:
“It’s a great honor to lead the CEMEA region and continue driving innovation in payments and commerce across so many dynamic markets. Having spent a third of my career in this region, I’m deeply committed to advancing digital payments for consumers, merchants, and partners alike.”
