US President Donald Trump said negotiations with Iran were progressing positively then bragged about bombing them again and again, according to remarks delivered aboard Air Force One on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters during the flight, Trump described ongoing discussions with Tehran as “moving along very nicely,” saying the United States had made progress on issues he believed Iran should have agreed to earlier.
At the same time, the president said US military operations had targeted multiple locations across Iran during the day. He termed it a significant round of strikes involving both naval and air power
Trump stated that talks with Iran were taking place through direct and indirect channels. He also claimed Iran had allowed several oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. He described the move as ‘a gesture of respect’ toward Washington. Iranian authorities have disregarded this comment so far.
Despite expressing optimism about diplomacy, Trump acknowledged the fragile nature of the negotiations, noting that US engagement with Iran has historically alternated between dialogue and military action.
