TİKA Establishes Modern Computer Lab at University of Karachi

The initiative supports one of Pakistan’s leading

Karachi: The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) has established a state-of-the-art computer laboratory at the Faculty of Education, University of Karachi. The initiative supports one of Pakistan’s leading higher education institutions, which was founded in 1951 following the country’s independence.

The computer laboratory was officially handed over to university officials during a program attended by TİKA’s delegation, led by Dursun Ali Yaşacan, Head of the East and South Asia, Pacific, and Latin America Department, and Cemal Sangu, Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Karachi. The event was part of a series of opening ceremonies and meetings held by TİKA in Pakistan.

TİKA’s Commitment to Education

Dursun Ali Yaşacan underscored TİKA’s dedication to advancing education in countries where it operates. He highlighted that establishing the computer laboratory at the Faculty of Education, which trains future educators, demonstrates this commitment.

Consul General Sangu emphasized Türkiye’s longstanding support for education in Pakistan. He expressed pride in TİKA’s impactful contributions to Pakistan’s educational development, noting that such initiatives strengthen the bond between the two nations.

Enhancing Educational Opportunities

The newly established computer lab is expected to benefit approximately 1,500 students. Following the handover, TİKA representatives and Consul General Sangu held discussions with faculty members and students, addressing education-related topics. Faculty and students expressed their gratitude to TİKA and Türkiye for selecting their institution for this project, which they believe will significantly enhance learning opportunities.

Over 150 Educational Projects Completed

Since establishing its offices in Islamabad and Karachi in 2010, TİKA has prioritized education in its development agenda for Pakistan. Over the past 15 years, TİKA has completed more than 150 educational projects, including renovating schools, providing furniture, and setting up laboratories across various provinces.

TİKA’s continuous efforts highlight its commitment to improving Pakistan’s educational infrastructure and capacity, fostering long-term development and growth in the sector.
