Syria: Foreign Minister Arrives in Islamabad to Deepen Bilateral Ties

ISLAMABAD: Syria and Pakistan are seeking to strengthen bilateral relations as Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani arrived in Islamabad late Wednesday for a two-day official visit.

Al-Shaibani is visiting Pakistan from August 19 to 20 at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. He arrived with a high-level delegation and received a welcome from the Foreign Office’s additional secretary for the Middle East at the airport.

The visit will bring Pakistani and Syrian officials together for discussions on the full range of bilateral relations. Both sides will also explore opportunities to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

According to the Foreign Office, the talks will include an exchange of views on regional and international developments. The discussions will provide an opportunity for Pakistan and Syria to coordinate their positions on issues affecting the region and the wider international community.

During his stay, the Syrian foreign minister is also expected to meet senior Pakistani officials and political leadership. The meetings will focus on strengthening political and diplomatic engagement and identifying new areas for cooperation.

The Foreign Office described the visit as an important step toward further strengthening Pakistan-Syria relations and expanding cooperation between the two countries.
