Karachi: In a vibrant celebration of women’s strength, wellness, and resilience, Goethe-Institut Pakistan and MatrixFit Pakistan jointly hosted StrongHer, an “active symposium” that energized Karachi’s community on Saturday evening. The event took place at a local hotel and brought together students, professionals, athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and parents for an inspiring experience blending conversation and movement.

Olympians, Entrepreneurs, and Fitness Leaders Share Insights

The event kicked off with powerful keynote speeches from three influential women:

  • Christina Hering, a two-time Olympian and 15-time German national champion, encouraged attendees to “dream big and work hard,” drawing on her experiences in elite sports.
  • Yasmin Hyder, CEO of New World Concepts and a champion of women’s entrepreneurship in Pakistan, reflected on her journey “from sports to the boardroom,” highlighting the value of inclusive leadership.
  • Mintra Tilly, Director of Sport at HYROX – the global fitness racing brand – emphasized that in male-dominated spaces, respect is earned through perseverance. “Sport allows women to reclaim autonomy over their bodies,” she said.

Women Leaders Discuss Wellness, Resilience, and Empowerment

A thought-provoking panel discussion followed, moderated by Sarah Munir — journalist, entrepreneur, and CEO — exploring how strength intersects with healing, body image, and community care. The panel featured:

  • Samina Baig, pioneering Pakistani mountaineer
  • Saman Ghani Khan, trauma-informed life coach
  • Beenish Kajani, HR expert and mentor
  • Amafah Mubashir, wellness advocate and yoga instructor
  • Parishae Adnan, fashion industry leader and creative visionary

Together, the panelists discussed the deeper dimensions of strength — emotional, mental, and physical — and how women can build resilience through shared support and wellness practices.

Community Workout Ends on a High Note

The evening concluded with a dynamic community workout session, where up to 50 attendees, including speakers and guests, formed teams and participated in circuit training exercises around the hall. Those not participating enthusiastically cheered them on, reinforcing StrongHer’s core message: true strength is collective.

Attendees left feeling invigorated, connected, and empowered — a powerful reminder that physical movement can be a pathway to personal and communal transformation.

Key Figures in Attendance

The event was also graced by dignitaries and notable guests, including:

  • Dr. Rüdiger Lotz, Consul General of Germany in Karachi
  • Mr. Andreas Schiekofer, Director of Goethe-Institut Pakistan
  • Mr. Bilal Tariq, founder of MatrixFit Pakistan and the first Pakistani to compete in the international CrossFit Games
