Atif Aslam Singer Says New Album Helped Him Rediscover His Artistic Identity

Atif Aslam has described his upcoming fourth studio album, Subah Aye Na, as the most personal project of his career, saying it helped him reconnect with his artistic identity after years of global touring and commercial commitments.

Ahead of the album’s release, the singer reflected on his creative journey in recent interviews and said the project represents a major turning point in his career.

“I forgot who I was, so I went back to zero and told myself that people had made me a star, by the grace of God, but now is the time to become an artist,” Aslam said.

A Return to Creative Roots

The singer explained that Subah Aye Na gave him the opportunity to create music based on his own experiences rather than external expectations.

He said he had spent years making music for audiences, record labels and commercial projects.

However, he decided it was time to create something that reflected his personal journey.

“I thought of doing something for myself. And I found myself through this album,” he said.

Fame Created Creative Distance

Reflecting on his 25-year career, Aslam said concerts, professional commitments and continuous work gradually distanced him from his creative roots.

He acknowledged that his success has been a blessing.

Nevertheless, he felt the need to pause and focus on the music he truly wanted to make.

Unlike his previous projects, Aslam chose not to impose strict deadlines on the album.

Instead, he allowed the songs to develop naturally.

“I did not want to be driven by timelines. I wanted it to come straight from the soul,” he said.

Plans for More Frequent Albums

The singer also revealed that he had intended to release another album much earlier.

However, he admitted that he delayed completing the project.

“I was working on the album, but I couldn’t compile it earlier. I guess you could say, as candidly as it gets, that I was lazy,” he said.

Looking ahead, Aslam said he hopes Subah Aye Na marks the beginning of a new creative chapter.

He also expressed his ambition to release a new studio album every year.
