Sindh CM’s Surprise Visits Trigger Immediate Suspensions and Transfers

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah engages with visitors at the Sub-Registrar-II Gadap Office, located within the Deputy Commissioner Office Keamari, to address their concerns.

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, accompanied by Home Minister Zaiul Hassan Lanjar, conducted surprise inspections at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Keamari and the Risala Model Police Station on Sunday.

Suspension of Officials at Keamari

At the Deputy Commissioner’s office, CM Murad Ali Shah discovered that several officials were absent, leaving visitors unattended. Among those missing were Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Nawaz Kalwar, Assistant Commissioner Mauripur Muhammad Yasin, and Mukhtiarkar Mir Mohammad Nawaz Talpur.

In the Domicile Office, young applicants revealed their domicile applications were completed but pending due to the absence of an assistant commissioner. The Chief Minister immediately ordered their suspension, and the Chief Secretary issued the relevant orders on the spot.

Additionally, the Chief Minister visited the office of Sub-Registrar-II Gadap Town. Sub-Registrar Abdul Nabi Lashri failed to provide satisfactory details about his office’s operations. Consequently, Mr. Shah directed his transfer back to the Board of Revenue.

Inspection at Risala Model Police Station

During his visit to the Risala Model Police Station, CM Shah reviewed operations and found gaps in attendance. Although 100 police officers were assigned to the station, only about 30 were present. SSP City clarified that officers worked in two shifts, morning and evening.

The Chief Minister inspected the lock-up, where nine detainees were being held, and reviewed FIR records to ensure all detentions were lawful. He also interacted with the detainees to understand their issues.

Ladies’ Room and Facilitation Desk Lapses

In the Ladies’ Room, established for female complainants, Mr. Shah found an inadequate setup with no record of visitors or complaints. He directed SSP City to assign a lady head constable and maintain a computerised record of all cases.

At the Facilitation Desk, complaints were still being handled manually. The Chief Minister ordered immediate computerisation for better tracking and transparency.

Women’s Police Station Construction Delays

Within the premises, two police stations, Eid Gah and Risala, and a women’s police station were under construction. Mr. Shah expressed concern over the incomplete construction despite funds being allocated and instructed the Home Secretary to investigate the delay.

Focus on Public Service and Accountability

The surprise visits underscored CM Murad Ali Shah’s focus on improving public service delivery and accountability in government offices and police stations. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring efficient governance across Sindh.
