Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, speaking at the Flag Hoisting and Independence Day Ceremony at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to improving Karachi’s quality of life and business environment.

The CM announced the inauguration of the newly constructed 100 MGD Hub Canal and rehabilitation of the existing canal by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari earlier in the day, a move set to significantly boost the city’s water supply. He added that the K-IV water supply scheme would be completed soon, and effluent water treatment plants were in the pipeline to reuse treated water for Karachi’s needs.

Murad Ali Shah praised KCCI for embracing this year’s Independence Day theme, “Marka-e-Haq”, and lauded the restoration of KCCI’s historic building. He assured that surrounding streets would be rehabilitated in coordination with Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab, pledging continued collaboration with KCCI to address civic and business challenges.

Reflecting on recent hostilities with India, the CM commended national unity and the Armed Forces’ swift response, compelling the adversary to accept a ceasefire. He stressed that Pakistan remains peace-loving but resolute in defending its sovereignty.

Chairman Businessmen Group Zubair Motiwala hailed August 14 as a day of sacrifice and freedom, paying tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and expressing confidence that Kashmir will one day be part of Pakistan.

KCCI President Muhammad Jawed Bilwani congratulated the nation on its 78th Independence Day, praised the government’s responsiveness to business concerns, and reaffirmed KCCI’s commitment to working with the Sindh Government for economic growth and stability.

The event was attended by Sindh Minister for Industries Jam Ikramullah Khan Dharejo, Mayor Karachi, senior KCCI leadership, and former Presidents, with patriotic fervor marking the day’s celebrations.
