Karachi: A charity Sehri gathering hosted by the Sahil Welfare Association brought together philanthropists, business leaders and public figures in Karachi, where speakers highlighted the organization’s nearly two decades of social welfare work across Pakistan’s coastal regions.

The event was hosted by Faisal Amin, Commander Coast of the Pakistan Navy and Chairman of Sahil Welfare Association, and held at the residence of Danish Aman.

Two Decades of Welfare Work

Addressing the gathering, Vice Admiral Faisal Amin thanked former naval officers, members of the business community and philanthropists for their continued support over the past 20 years.

Among those acknowledged were senior naval figures including Imran Ahmad and Shahid Iqbal, as well as the chairman of the Karachi Port Trust.

Donations Raised for Coastal Communities

A donation drive was organised prior to Sehri, during which participants pledged significant contributions to support ongoing welfare projects. The funds will be utilised for initiatives benefiting underserved populations, particularly along Pakistan’s coastal belt.

Attendees reaffirmed their commitment to continue supporting humanitarian programmes aimed at improving living standards in remote areas.

Key Projects Highlighted

During the event, organisers shared updates on several projects carried out over the past year, including:

  • Revival of a hospital in Gwadar
  • Establishment of an inclusive learning centre for special children in Haro
  • Creation of a revolving fund for the fishing community
  • Development of an IT hub in collaboration with Saylani Welfare International Trust

These initiatives aim to strengthen healthcare access, education and economic opportunities in coastal and underprivileged communities.

The Sehri event drew participants from diverse sectors, including sports, entertainment, media, politics and the corporate world. Among the notable guests was squash legend Jahangir Khan, alongside actors, singers, comedians and senior bureaucrats.

Organisational arrangements were overseen by Danish Aman, Commodore Shahid Irshad and Lieutenant Hasnain Saqib.

Commitment to Future Welfare Efforts

The gathering concluded with expressions of appreciation from the hosts and renewed pledges from philanthropists and organisations to continue financial and moral support for the association’s upcoming welfare initiatives.
