PM Shehbaz, Trump Meet Informally on Sidelines of Arab-Islamic Summit in New York

New York: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and U.S. President Donald Trump met briefly in New York on Tuesday during the Arab-Islamic Summit, where the two leaders exchanged greetings and held an informal conversation in a cordial atmosphere.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Trump met Shehbaz Sharif at the conclusion of the summit, warmly shaking hands and engaging in a light exchange. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar was also present.
Earlier, the prime minister participated in the summit hosted jointly by President Trump and the Emir of Qatar. The gathering brought together leaders from Turkiye, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and other member states to discuss the ongoing war in Gaza and broader regional challenges.
The brief interaction between Sharif and Trump comes amid heightened diplomatic activity at the UN General Assembly, where recognition of Palestine and the Gaza conflict have dominated discussions.
