PCFR, China Consulate Mark 10 Years of Xi’s Visit with Seminar in Karachi

Karachi: The Pakistan Council on Foreign Relations (PCFR) and the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China jointly organized a seminar titled “Chinese Modernization and Pakistan-China Relations” at the Chinese Consulate in Karachi.

The seminar marked the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s historic visit to Pakistan and was attended by members of the diplomatic corps, government officials, business leaders, academics, and PCFR members.

In his welcome address, Chinese Consul General Mr. Yang Yundong highlighted the significance of President Xi’s 2015 visit, calling it a turning point in Pakistan-China relations. He noted that China’s modernization continues to drive high-quality development and fosters shared prosperity with Pakistan, reinforcing the countries’ time-tested friendship.

  • Mr. Irfan Soomro, Director General of the Foreign Affairs Liaison Office, Karachi
  • Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Former Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan
  • Ambassador G.R. Baluch
  • Ambassador Syed Hasan Habib
  • Prof. Zhang Jiegen from Fudan University, Shanghai
  • Mr. Zubair Tufail, Chairman of PCFR

The event featured discussions on economic cooperation, regional connectivity, and the impact of Chinese modernization on Pakistan’s development trajectory.

The seminar reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to deepening strategic ties and promoting mutual growth through strong diplomatic, economic, and cultural cooperation.
