Pakistan vs West Indies swung in Pakistan’s favour on day two as Shan Masood scored an unbeaten 88 to guide his side to 199-3 in reply to West Indies’ first-innings total of 311.

Masood, playing his first Test since stepping down as captain, anchored the innings with confidence. He shared a crucial 155-run partnership with Imam-ul-Haq after Pakistan lost an early wicket.

Pakistan suffered an early blow when Kemar Roach bowled Azan Awais in the second over. However, Masood and Imam quickly rebuilt the innings and dominated the West Indies attack.

Masood and Imam dominate

Masood reached his fifty from just 46 balls and struck nine boundaries during his fluent knock.

Imam-ul-Haq supported him with a composed 63. The opener registered his 11th Test half-century before losing his wicket.

New captain Babar Azam added 23 runs before falling late in the day. Salman Agha then survived nine deliveries before poor light forced the umpires to end play.

At stumps, Pakistan had reached 199-3, trailing by 112 runs with seven wickets still in hand.

West Indies post 311

Earlier, West Indies resumed on 194-3 and finished on 311.

Shai Hope top-scored with 92 after narrowly missing a century. Kavem Hodge added only one run to his overnight score before departing for 84.

Hope built useful partnerships with Justin Greaves, Roston Chase and Shamar Joseph to push the total past 300.

Joseph added a quick 23, while Chase scored 10 despite carrying a finger injury.

Pakistan bowlers shine

Pakistan’s pace attack kept the hosts under pressure throughout the morning session.

Khurram Shahzad dismissed Hodge early to break a key partnership.

Mohammad Ali produced the best bowling figures with 4-50. Mohammad Abbas claimed 3-63 after making an immediate impact with the second new ball.

Their disciplined spells prevented West Indies from building a bigger first-innings lead.

Pakistan eye first-innings advantage

Pakistan enter day three in a strong position. Masood remains unbeaten and the visitors still have seven wickets available.

If Pakistan continue their momentum, they will have an excellent chance to secure a valuable first-innings lead in the opening Test.
