Islamabad: The Pakistan Travel and Tourism Symposium 2024, held from June 10th to 11th at PNCA Islamabad, successfully highlighted the importance of tourism in driving Pakistan’s economy. The event, organized under the theme “Building National Economy through Tourism,” brought together over 500 delegates, including international experts, to discuss key strategies for enhancing the tourism sector.
Arif Habib, Chairman of Naya Nazimabad, expressed pride in the event’s success, congratulating Managing Director PTDC and the entire team. The symposium featured nine insightful sessions covering topics like green investments, connectivity, responsible tourism, and adventure tourism.
Key speakers, including the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, emphasized the government’s ongoing initiatives to promote tourism. They highlighted the importance of improving infrastructure, promoting cultural heritage, and fostering sustainable practices.
The event also showcased an exhibition by travel and tourism companies and a Food & Culinary Show, organized in collaboration with COTHM and PTDC, which allowed aspiring chefs to display their talents.
As the symposium concluded, there was a strong consensus on the need for a dedicated tourism ministry in Pakistan to prioritize tourism as a key economic driver. The event ended on a high note, with participants receiving souvenirs bearing the message “SalamPakistan.”
