Pakistan-Iraq Relations received renewed attention as KHA Business & International Relations, led by Kafeel Hussain, hosted a diplomatic farewell reception in Karachi to honour H.E. Dr. Maher Mjhid, Consul General of the Republic of Iraq, for his contributions to strengthening bilateral ties during his tenure in Pakistan.

The event, organized under the supervision of Kafeel Hussain and Shahher Hussain, reflected KHA Business & International Relations’ commitment to building stronger links between Pakistan’s diplomatic community and the private sector. The organization said such initiatives promote international cooperation, facilitate trade and investment, expand export opportunities and strengthen Pakistan’s position as a trusted global economic partner.
Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, M. Irfan Soomro, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he praised efforts that encourage meaningful engagement between diplomats and the business community, describing such platforms as essential for enhancing bilateral cooperation and supporting Pakistan’s economic interests.
During the ceremony, Kafeel Hussain presented commemorative shields to H.E. Dr. Maher Mjhid and M. Irfan Soomro in recognition of their distinguished public service and contributions to diplomatic and economic cooperation.
Speaking at the event, Kafeel Hussain said KHA Business & International Relations has developed a tradition of welcoming newly appointed Heads of Mission and Consuls General while organizing farewell receptions for diplomats completing their assignments in Pakistan. He noted that regular engagement between foreign missions and the private sector strengthens institutional trust, removes barriers to economic cooperation and creates new opportunities for trade, investment and commercial partnerships.
He added that stronger diplomatic and business collaboration can help increase Pakistan’s exports, attract foreign investment and enhance the country’s standing in the global marketplace.
The reception brought together senior diplomats, government officials, corporate executives, entrepreneurs and business leaders. Among those attending were Dr. Imran Yousuf, Honorary Consul General for the Philippines; Dr. Zahid Hasan Ansari, Chairman of the FPCCI Pakistan-Canada Business Council; Asad Fecto, Kaleem Farooqui, Farooq Afzal, M. Shahher Khan, Major Waseem, Ali Haider, Shah Turab, Zahid Karani, Jilani Yousuf, Yousuf Aziz, Jibran Sarfraz, Hayat Khan, Junaid Ur Rehman, Tariq Mustafa, Ateeq Ur Rehman and Kamran Khan.
Participants paid tribute to Dr. Maher Mjhid for his diplomatic service and acknowledged his role in strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and Iraq.
The event concluded with KHA Business & International Relations reaffirming its commitment to serving as a bridge between the diplomatic corps and Pakistan’s business community while promoting stronger international partnerships, sustainable economic cooperation and expanded trade and investment opportunities.
