A Mission to Combat Blood Disorders

In her speech, Uzma Tahir Shamsi highlighted that Muhammad Tahir Shamsi introduced bone marrow transplants in Pakistan in 1994 after completing specialized training. She stressed that Pakistan has a high number of thalassemia patients, making affordable medical assistance crucial.

Call for Philanthropic Support

Shamim Fhirpo emphasized that bone marrow transplants are both complex and costly, urging philanthropists to contribute generously to this noble cause.

Host Zahid Hameed expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, stating:

“No task is difficult if the determination is strong.”

Raising Funds for 100 Patients

Usama Sultan Shamsi, Central Secretary of NIBD, shared that the cost of treatment per patient ranges between PKR 3 million and PKR 7 million. The society aims to fund transplants for 100 patients, requiring a total of PKR 3 billion to PKR 7 billion.

During the event, an anonymous donor revealed that they had directly deposited their donation into the NIBD Welfare Society’s account, inspiring further contributions.

With millions raised and more needed, the NIBD Welfare Society continues its mission to provide life-saving treatment for blood disorder patients, urging more philanthropists to come forward.
