Sukkur: Mayor of Sukkur and Sindh Government Spokesperson, Barrister Arslan Islam Shaikh, set a new standard in municipal service delivery by executing a proactive and efficient cleanliness and waste management plan during Eid-ul-Adha 2025.

The three-day operation, personally supervised by the Mayor, ensured that Sukkur remained clean and well-managed despite the high volume of animal waste typically generated during the Eid festival.

Sukkur Maintained as Model Clean City

“Eid-ul-Adha presents unique sanitation challenges due to sacrificial remains,” said Barrister Arslan Islam Shaikh. “But through our coordinated efforts, full workforce deployment, and active use of machinery, Sukkur stood out as a model clean city.”

Key Highlights of the Eid-ul-Adha 2025 Cleanliness Plan

Round-the-Clock Monitoring
The Mayor oversaw all operations to ensure smooth execution and immediate response to any sanitation issues.

Massive Workforce Mobilization
Over 300 permanent sanitation workers were deployed in two shifts, supported by 250 additional workers at critical locations.

Heavy Machinery Utilization
More than 50 vehicles—including loader rickshaws and tractor trollies—along with 148 machines from SSWMB, SWMC, and other departments, were fully operational throughout the Eid days.

Organized Waste Disposal
Animal waste was efficiently collected from designated points in each Union Council. Additionally, 11 camp offices were established to coordinate operations.

Public Support & Facilitation
Over 15,000 waste collection bags were distributed. Lime and disinfectant sprays were used extensively, and a 24/7 helpline remained active for public assistance.

Performance Metrics

  • Total Animal Waste Generated: Approx. 3,600 tons
  • First Day Collection (June 7): Over 1,100 tons
  • Remaining Clearance Target: Completion expected within 48 hours

Mayor Commends Public Cooperation

Mayor Shaikh credited the success to effective teamwork, robust planning, and strong public support. He reaffirmed his commitment to sustainable urban cleanliness, promising continued efforts for a cleaner and greener Sukkur.
