Karachi: The French government has awarded Muna Siddiqui, President of the Board of the Alliance Française de Karachi, the prestigious Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, recognizing her outstanding contributions to art, craftsmanship, and cultural exchange.

Recognition of Cultural Contributions

In a formal reception, Nicolas Galey, French Ambassador to Pakistan, praised Siddiqui’s efforts in revitalizing the Alliance Française de Karachi and strengthening Franco-German cultural cooperation. He highlighted her significant role in preserving traditional art forms and mentoring artisans.

A Legacy in Art and Culture

A distinguished artist, writer, and art critic, Siddiqui has left a lasting impact on Pakistan’s artistic landscape. She is the founder of The Craft Company, known for blending heritage with contemporary design. Her mosaic installations in hospitals and public spaces, including the Astana World Expo 2017, stand as testaments to her artistic vision.

Siddiqui’s decade-long tenure as a columnist in leading Pakistani newspapers has enriched cultural discourse, while her leadership at the Alliance Française de Karachi has bolstered its role as a center for French language and culture. She played a key role in securing financial stability for the institution and fostering collaboration with the Goethe-Institut.

Presenting the award on behalf of the French Minister of Culture, H.E. Nicolas Galey emphasized Siddiqui’s dedication to intercultural dialogue and her significant contributions to cultural diplomacy between Pakistan and France.
