MBJ School of Nursing Holds 18th Lamp Lighting at KGH

Karachi: The 18th Lamp Lighting and Oath-Taking Ceremony of the MBJ School of Nursing at Kharadar General Hospital was held this week, marking a significant milestone for the graduating cohort and reaffirming the institution’s commitment to healthcare education.

The ceremony brought together healthcare professionals, philanthropists and community leaders to celebrate the academic achievements of the nursing students and the hospital’s longstanding contribution to medical services in Karachi.

Chief Guest Highlights Role of Charity and Nursing Profession

Dr. Gauhar Ejaz, former federal minister for commerce, industry and production, attended the ceremony as chief guest. In his address, he praised the hospital’s healthcare services and described the MBJ School of Nursing as a state-of-the-art institution dedicated to professional excellence.

He emphasized that sustainable societal progress begins with improving the lives of ordinary citizens and underscored the importance of charity, Zakat and social responsibility. He acknowledged the contribution of non-governmental organisations and philanthropists in strengthening Pakistan’s education and healthcare sectors.

Dr. Ejaz also highlighted the rising global demand for trained nursing professionals, calling nursing a noble and dignified profession that plays a transformative role in improving lives across the world.

Hospital Leadership Reaffirms Commitment

Muhammad Bashir Janmuhammad, president of Kharadar General Hospital and a noted philanthropist, reiterated the hospital’s commitment to excellence in education, research and healthcare delivery.

He commended the dedication and professionalism of the hospital’s staff and praised the performance of the nursing school. He also outlined plans for further expansion aimed at enhancing training facilities and academic standards.

Symbolic Ritual Marks Professional Pledge

The ceremony concluded with the traditional lamp-lighting ritual and oath-taking. During the solemn proceedings, student nurses pledged to deliver compassionate, ethical and high-quality healthcare in line with professional standards.

The lamp-lighting tradition symbolises the legacy of care and service in the nursing profession and reflects the graduates’ commitment to uphold its core values.

Distinguished Guests in Attendance

Prominent business and community leaders attended the event, including Arif Habib, Khalid Tawab, Haji Ghani Haji Usman, Dabeer Ahmed Khan and Mian Zahid Hussain.

The attendees congratulated the graduating students and lauded Kharadar General Hospital’s continued service to underprivileged communities.
